Vintage Pocket Ashtray
This lovely pocket ashtray has been made from brass with mother of pearl on the top of the lid. It has a very feminine look about it.
In the 1950s and 1960s, portable purse ashtrays for female smokers became the rage. They were generally made from metal with a hinged lid. The top of the lid was usually embellished with art work or sometimes even gemstones. A well made pocket ashtray with a well sealed lid enabled no transfer of smell to clothing or handbag.
This little pocket ashtray is square shaped and it is 4 cms across.
